GPS Performance

Tonight at church we watched the children's choir perform their spring musical, GPS (God's Plan for Salvation).  It was a cute story about making good, godly choices on life's road.  Drew played a state trooper who pulled over the student driver when she was speeding.  In true musical form, about half his lines were spoken, and the other half were sung, sometimes in solo, sometimes in duet.  When Drew was singing the duet part with Izzy, I was amazed at how well their voices blended.

Congratulations to all the Sonshine Choir kids on a fabulous performance, and a special shout-out to Ms. Pam and Mrs. Ayres for directing such a fine production.

An Ethnic Worship Service

This morning's worship service at church was an amazing blend of ethnic styles and songs.  These flags graced the portico...

...and were carried into the sanctuary at the beginning of the service.  Drew led the procession, carrying the Christian flag.  As I've mentioned before, our church has members and attenders from many different countries.  To see my friends proudly carrying in the flag from their country of origin, dressed in native attire, gave me an incredible feeling of pride.

While the entire service was just amazing, my favorite part was when the children's choir and the adult choir sang together.  The children's choir sang the classic Christian hymn Of the Father's Love Begotten while the adults sang an African worship song in Zulu.  It truly was a little bit of heaven on earth.

Christmas Bells are Ringing

Drew is part of the children's Bell Choir at our church. Today the kids sang songs, played bells, and joined the adult choir in singing songs on this week's Advent theme: Joy. Have I mentioned recently how much I love this time of year?

Sing to the Lord

The Sonshine Club, our church's children's choir, sang this morning. Drew was asked by the choir director to read a greeting, and part of Psalm 47 ("Sing to the Lord...").

Drew confidently read his part, and he did a great job singing too. I'm going to take this moment to "out" Drew as a budding singer. The Sonshine Club choir director and Drew's music teacher at school both agree that Drew has a fantastic singing voice.
